Our esteemed Dr. Ken Christianson has been presented with the James E. Mitchell, M.D. Outstanding Teacher of the Year Award for 2017-2018.
This award is presented annually by the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and recipients are selected by psychiatry residents. The award was given at the UND resident graduation ceremony in June. Dr. Christianson expressed gratitude for the award and for the opportunity and privilege of teaching. Dr. Christianson was the past recipient of the same award in 2012–2013, and the recipient of the Dean’s Recognition Award in 2006 for commitment to teaching medical students and residents.
Dr. Christianson is the Program Director for the Psychotherapy Training Program for the UND Medical School psychiatry resident program. He teaches two classes on psychotherapy each year and lectures on selected topics for a portion of a third class.
